ARDEX successfully completes its new mixing plant in Sydney (Australia) in partnership with Actemium-Sofraden

ARDEX, a family-owned company founded more than 75 years ago, is a global leader in highperformance construction products.
With operations in over 50 countries and a portfolio of 20 major brands, ARDEX manages more
than 65 subsidiaries and 50 production facilities across all continents. Its product range includes
technical mortars for tiles and stone, flooring systems, repair screeds, renders, waterproofing
solutions, and more. Through its technical expertise and cutting-edge innovations, ARDEX provides
solutions for some of the world’s most prestigious building projects.
Today, ARDEX announces the successful commissioning of its new mixing plant in Sydney, Australia,
developed in collaboration with Actemium-Sofraden.

An ambitious project brought to life

Following an in-depth design phase between 2021 and 2022, the project received all necessary
approvals. The foundation stone was laid in summer 2024, and by mid-August 2025, multiple
production lines were fully operational.

“This project has been both technically rewarding and exceptionally well managed. The Sofraden
team consistently demonstrated deep expertise and a proactive mindset, fostering clear
communication, timely decision-making, and a collaborative environment that was key to the
project’s success. Sofraden remains a trusted and long-standing partner we value highly”

explains
Chris Skiladellis, the Regional Operations Director – Asia Pacific, Ardex Australia.

The solution

At the heart of the new facility is a 35 meters vertical tower, 40 meters long and 15 meters wide,
housing multiple complete mixing lines. It features automatic storage and dosing for more than 40
raw materials, including sensitive and explosive chemicals.
This is the most complex mixing tower ever delivered by Actemium-Sofraden. It was designed to
maximize flexibility through mobile dosing units and to ensure optimal workstation ergonomics,
boosting industrial performance. MIB Sofraden mixers, equipped with CIP (Clean In Place) systems,
guarantee efficient, high-quality production, even with complex formulations. The plant’s
dedicated design prevents cross-contamination between formulas and facilitates cleaning.
Production management is powered by Prodose® software, already deployed at many other
ARDEX sites, ensuring consistency across facilities. Remote technical support and regular software
updates further reinforce the plant’s long-term reliability.

Project timeline

Construction began on July 8, 2024, and progressed smoothly despite technical constraints such as
limited storage space and heavy truck traffic. Thanks to favorable conditions and excellent
coordination, assembly, mechanical installation, and electrical wiring were carried out under
optimal circumstances.
